This week I’ve seen some really interesting and insightful advice as part of National Careers Week CIC.
Working in recruitment, I’m fortunate to be a part of people’s career development, supporting candidates to find graduate/entry level roles across various industries.
So many people are quick to put down hospitality/retail experience. I’ve heard candidates receive feedback that its not ‘professional’ or ‘relevant’ experience, feeling disheartened they do not have a big-brand internship on their CV…
My advice as part of #NCW2021 is to be proud of ALL your experience! Hospitality/retail is not only (really) hard graft, but it builds resilience, communication skills, complaint handling, multi-tasking & commercial aptitude (just to name a few)!
