A career in recruitment

30 years ago, Tim Berners-Lee was getting ready to unveil the World Wide Web to the world. But something else was happening too. Our very own Jacqui started her career in recruitment, and it seems she’s never looked back.

With so many successful placements under her belt, and many happy clients and candidates, we decided to ask our resident expert a few questions. This week, our recruitment Specialist April Atkinson asked Jacqui how she embarked on her career in recruitment, what she enjoys the most, and what the future holds.

How did you get into the recruitment business?

I was in recruitment before Headway. I applied for a job as a PA for a search and selection agency and whilst I was there I got more and more involved in the recruitment side of things.

Recruitment consultants get quite a bad rep, why do you think that is?

Unfortunately recruitment consultants are well known for moving from one job to anther and not sticking with the same company – obviously we’re not like this ☺

What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?

Helping companies find the right people for them and to have the same companies come back time after time (to me) for help.

What’s been the biggest change you’ve seen in the industry during your time in it?

Since the recession in 2008 it has changed so much. Recruitment is a lot more difficult, quality candidates are more difficult to find.

What’s the company culture like at Headway Recruitment?

Professional, caring (always has been), honest, what we say we are going to do, we always deliver on the promises given.

Just how a great a boss is Mr Gill on a scale of 1 -10…

10 – I don’t work with Mark on a day to day basis but I know that he is passionate about the business and is driven and has the best interests of Headway Recruitment and everyone in it at heart.
